Yes. I bought and brought back a 1kg pack of cereal back home from Paris, and it was the best “souvenir” I brought back!
Growing up, we rarely had cereals for breakfast. My mom usually prepared noodles, Chinese buns, sandwich, fruits, etc. While I can’t even remember clearly when she had bought us cereal, I do remember at times we would have this very delicious chocolate cereal called “Koko Krunch” The chocolate flavor was “real” and strong! It was so good that I would just eat it without milk.
When I went to college in Utah, I tried hard looking for that same cereal. I bought some that looked like KoKo Krunch, but they tasted like fake chocolate. Nothing tasted like the ones I had in Hong Kong. I looked for KoKo Krunch on Amazon, and let’s just say they weren’t at a price I would pay. At one point I even emailed Nestle to ask if they would consider selling KoKo Krunch in the US, and they replied that they sold different products in different markets.
After moving to California, I saw Koko Crunch sold at a French cafe, $14 usd for a small box. That’s not really within my cereal budget spending… Fast forward to 2024, when we went to Paris for the Olympics, I asked my cousin who lived in Paris if he had seen Koko Krunch (since it’s sold at a French cafe, I figured the French would have had heard of it?)
He said no. ?!
I showed him the picture, and he realized it’s actually their Chocapic! He was very familiar with Chocapic and brought us to Carrefour to get it.
The 1kg one was on sale. I just HAD to get it. It’s made in France with French ingredients. ? Haha. Very chocolatey! For sure it was “strong in chocolate!!!!!!”
We finished the cereal in less than 2 weeks. So good.
Here’s the Koko Krunch I got in Hong Kong this past summer.
