Illustrate the Landmarks of your Journey

Alice drawing national gallery of art

I was born and raised in Hong Kong and started taking drawing lessons at just five years old. These early doodles grew into a lifelong love for art. Life brought me to the U.S. for college, and since then I’ve called Utah, Michigan, and now sunny California home. I speak Cantonese and Mandarin and our family loves exploring new places together. Traveling has always inspired me — and so have the postcards I collect (and the many that friends and family love to send me!).

How It Started

When my husband was in school, I began selling watercolor drawings to support our little family. Over time, my art found its own path: from prints and illustrations to the custom travel maps I create today. I was also honored to help with the illustrations for Melodecks, a card deck that helps children with their music journey.

Why Maps?

Sometimes I feel a bit lost. I am living in a country I didn’t grow up in. Not many people around me share the similar experiences I had.

How do I find my village?

But I slowly learned that it’s so normal. We all have our own culture that is shaped by the different experiences we had. Even two people who grew up in the same place may not share the same exact cultures. We all have things we love, unique memories we cherish that make us who we are. I want to record those. I want to help people uncover their treasures in life – places they grew up in, food they love, schools they went to — these all shape who they are. My illustrations will help you record the landmarks in your journey.Click here to see my portfolio.

How do I draw? Do I use AI?

The drawings you see on here are drawn by me with my Apple Pencil on my iPad using Procreate. I urbansketch on location in real time. I never use AI to create art. My drawings and arts are all from my hand and mind.
